Malaysia Airlines Enrich announced yesterday that they will be closing the Golden Lounge Operations at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport. This is most likely as a result of continued cost cutting at the embattled airline.
Here is the official press release:
From 15 March 2014 onwards, Enrich Platinum and Gold members, and Business Class passengers are invited to the Qantas Lounge at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport. oneworld Emerald and Sapphire tier-member passengers may also do the same.
The Qantas Lounge is located at:
First Class : Airside Level 4, past Immigration. Enter at Level 3 via the escalator
Business Class : Airside Level 3, past Immigration. Enter at Level 3 via the escalator
The downside of this is that the Qantas Lounge will become busier as other Oneworld flyers move from the Golden lounge into the Qantas lounge. On the plus side I’ve heard excellent reviews of the Qantas lounge in Sydney so hopefully it’ll be a change for the better for Enrich members. Enrich has also ensured that Enrich Golden Lounge Access redemption vouchers can be used to access the Qantas Lounge. Just present the voucher to staff at check-in.
There is a pretty unique virtual tour of the First Class lounge available on the Qantas Lounge here.
