Biggest ever SPG Points Purchase Promotion offering 35% off the usual cost for purchasing Starwood Preferred Guest Points until the 14th July. Starwood Preferred Guest is one of my favorite programs, as the value of it’s points are great and they also have really good flexibility. Most major airlines are partners and the transfer rates are excellent.
What do the SPG Points Cost if You Purchase?
Generally it’s best to make sure that your account has multiples of 20,000 points as these generate a 5,000 points bonus when transferred to an airline program – so purchase 20K Starpoints and receive 25,000 airmiles.
You can purchase up to 30,000 per year for each account and at the high end 30,000 points would normally cost you $1050 – or 3.5 cents per point.
Under this SPG Points Purchase promotion that drops to 2.275 cents. You can purchase through the link below:
Very Cheap Option for Buying Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles!
Strangely Starwood Preferred Guest is actually the cheapest way of buying KrisFlyer miles at $2.8 cents per mile (3.9 SGD) compared to directly through KrisFlyer at $4 cents per mile (5.6 SGD). You can check this out in the analysis here:
Because of the discount this cost is decreased to $1.82 cents (3 cents SGD) per mile which is pretty cheap and you’ll be able to get more value back with smart redemptions. As I said I’ll be taking advantage of the promotion as will my partner, but think about what you can use the points for before purchasing.
This is cheaper than the recent IHG 100% Bonus that was offered.
Also Singapore Airlines is not the only airline partner Starwood Preferred Guest has many, but unfortunately this doesn’t include Malaysia Airlines Enrich – you need the IHG promotion instead.
How to Purchase Extra Points for Miles in the SPG Points Purchase Promotion
Starwood limit you to receiving 30,000 points per year, either purchased or received from another member. However there is a way around this through a household transfer. If you live in the same household you can transfer you points for free between members.
Again here is the link for purchases:
