I’ve slowly gotten to know the Changi Rewards program over the last year as I’ve begun to collect points – mostly on drinks I’ve bought as I come back in Singapore to avoid the eye watering alcohol prices here! Hopefully this post will remind you that you need to redeem Changi Rewards Points before they expire next week.
30th June is the cut off point for the 2016 programme year so you have a week to redeem your hard earned Changi Rewards points. Redemptions start from 80 points on the 1 for 1 deals so even if you have a few you might be able to redeem them.
How to Redeem Changi Rewards Points
Redeeming is easy but not 100% clear as you’ll understand with the limitations that I outline later. To redeem simply login to your account – “Redeem My Points” – Select Option from “Redemption Catalogue” – Enter Details and from which “Programme Year”. This was my redemption for my Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles – my primary redemption option.
You can sign-up for Changi Rewards with a bonus of 100 points with my referral link here if you’re already not a member, I get a few points too!
Limitations when you Redeem Changi Rewards Points
I’ve already written previously about some of the annoying restrictions that the Changi Rewards Points program has including its treatment of earning partners:
Another annoying limitation is when redeeming your points. Changi Rewards operates on a basis of “program years” where you earn your points in a year – for example the 2016 was between 31st March 2016 and 31st March 2017 and redemption is available until the end of 30th June.
These points are redeemed separately to the 2017 program year which will end on the 31st March. The annoyance comes when you end up with an odd number of points – in my case 2208 points. I redeemed for a 500 KrisFlyer Miles and a $5 voucher but I’m still left over with 208 points that I can’t do anything with.
To avoid this issue I’d recommend looking at the smaller points items in the redemption catalogue – including the 1 for 1 deals. You could also redeem directly for the larger cost items closer to your balance. For me I want the miles so I’m happy to give the 208 points a miss.
Have you redeemed your 2016 Changi Rewards Points yet?
