I haven’t updated this Maybank World MasterCard Credit Card Review for a while and I think it’s still a decent option for a card in your wallet, read as to why.
About the Card
The Maybank World MasterCard Credit Card is one of 5 Maybank cards that you can earn Maybank Treats points which can be converted into KrisFlyer Miles and Asia Miles
There is no Miles related sign-up bonus for the card.
For cards with a sign-up bonus check out our monthly update:
The Maybank World MasterCard Credit Card has quite a few ancillary benefits that might be of interest to you. Travel wise you can get some promotional discounts on Starwood Hotels, and use of JetQuay (with a spend of $S1,200!).
You’ll also get some lifestyle benefits including Golf, Healthcare and at Cathay Cineplex’s. One of the benefits that they don’t mention on the Maybank website is that you can also receive Starwood Preferred Guest Gold Membership after just one stay at a Starwood property – see here as to how you get this.
Generally I don’t value these at all.
What is the Annual Fee?
Principal Card: S$240 p.a. (first year waived). Supplementary Card: Free
Bonus for Renewal?
There are no bonuses offered for renewal but the following cards do:
What Do You Earn per $1?
- Earn 10 Treats Points per $S1 spent at selected stores and petrol stations – you can see the list here
- You earn 1 TREATS Point for every retail dollar charged to your Maybank Credit Card
What is a Point Worth?
The points earned on the Maybank World MasterCard are credited in Maybank Treats Points. These can be converted to KrisFlyer Miles at a ratio of 2.5 to 1.
So for the selected stores and petrol stations you’ll be earning 4 KrisFlyer Miles for each $S1, which is a great earnings ratio. Note that for those holding this card there is a $25 fee for transfers for Treats Points to KrisFlyer.
I’ve done a few pieces on what a KrisFlyer Mile is actually worth:
- What is a KrisFlyer Mile Worth (Award Redemptions)

- Upgrading Using Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Miles – The Best Value?
How Does this Compare?
The fact that this card has no sign-up bonus means you can do better for an initial offer! The 4 KrisFlyer Miles per $S1 is very attractive but extremely limited.
Sign Up Bonus – 0/10 (there isn’t one!)
Ongoing Spend – 5/10
This card is predominantly aimed at those that travel by car within Singapore with a high petrol spend – so for ongoing spend I haven’t rated it highly. Unless someone can tell me otherwise I think they’ve removed the high earning rates for Motorpay.
There is no expiry on your Treats points so you could combine this card with another to ensure that you are getting the maximum bonuses across your spending. It’s a shame that Maybank hasn’t included any sign-up bonus for the card as it makes it much less attractive.
