SPG Gold Status Fast Track for World Mastercards After One Stay – Extended to 2017+ Marriott Gold too!

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) has again extended its Fast Track to SPG Gold Status Fast Track for those with a World or World Elite Mastercard for cardholders in Asia-Pacific after one stay.

SPG Gold Status Fast Track

This is an offer that I used with my Standard Chartered Manhattan World Mastercard a couple of years ago for a stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok (SPG Gold status usually requires 10 nights).  This status for me is still going a few years later (not sure why!)

This offer is only available for residents in Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan), and can only be used the once.  It’s open until the 17th July 2017.  You have to register for the promotion using the following page:

Match You Status to Marriott Rewards

Interestingly this also provides you with a Fast Track to Marriott rewards Gold Elite due to the merger.  I’m yet to do my match, but it seems pretty straightforward once you’ve linked your accounts.  More information is available here:

SPG Gold Status

SPG Gold status isn’t quite as good as my favorite mid-tier offering Hilton HHonors Gold,  but does give you a few benefits including:

  • 4pm late checkout
  • Complimentary welcome gift
  • 50% more Starpoints
  • Room upgrades at check-in when available

For more information on SPG status levels check out their benefits page.

How to get the Gold Status after one stay:

  1. Be a member of SPG – if you aren’t you can click here
  2. Register at the promotion page here
  3. Complete an eligible stay at a property in Asia-Pacific (there isn’t a specific list of properties – but it does exclude Japan)
  4. Pay with your World or World Elite Mastercard

The terms state a 4 week wait can be expected for your status to show.   When I used this offer, I did have to email customer services as my Gold Status didn’t register – so keep an eye out for it.  Assuming you register in 2017 the Gold status should stay until the end of 2018.

I’ve read that there are some workarounds on this including using a google image search for a world mastercard, as well as using Asia-Pacific addresses that are not the actual members address.  The terms suggest that these wouldn’t be eligible so do so at your own risk.

The Promotion page for the free SPG status is here.
