It doesn’t feel like long ago that I was writing about earning and redeeming on Firefly with Enrich Miles but they’ve now ended their partnership.
This was actually some news that came out in November but it seems as though it was kept under the radar. It’s not clear but it might be as a result of the changes ongoing at Malaysia Airlines.
The ending of the partnership basically means you’ll no longer be able to earn and burn Enrich miles with Firefly or enjoy your normal Enrich benefits like lounge access with them but here are the details:
Redemptions on Firefly are no longer possible after the 31st December 2015 (so already active)
Earning Enrich Miles is possible on Firefly until the 30th June – if your flight was booked before the 31st December 2015.
Enrich members no longer have lounge access when flying on Firefly flights
Malaysia Airlines have released an FAQ for members looking for more information:
I don’t think this is a big loss for most as the redemption value wasn’t high, and the earning rates were always low because of the distance. I can see some regular commuters missing out though.
On the positive side Malaysia Airlines will soon be adding Emirates as a redemption partner so that’ll open up a lot of new routes for Enrich members check out this article for details:
Is the ending of the Firefly Partnership something you’re annoyed about?
