BA announced yesterday that it is to launch the A380 on the Singapore to London route from the 28th of October. This will be a 3x weekly service on BA11/12 with the current 747-400 covering the other 4 days of the week. The BA A380 does feature improved comfort in Business Class and First class over other aircraft in the BA fleet due to the extra floorspace available.
I personally fly this route several times a year and often with BA so this is great news. It has also been reported that they are going to revamp the BA lounge at Singapore Changi airport which has been the poor cousin of the Qantas lounge since the BA/Qantas partnership ended on the Kangaroo route last year. It’s likely to be re-branded as a BA Galleries Club lounge – there’s no information on when or how long this will be.
There are special promotional fares being offered with the launch (in addition the sale that is ongoing until 5th March which posted about last week here) with fares as low as $S1312 in Economy and $S6271 in Business class during October.
BA launched the route with Sex and the City star Kristin Davis in this promotional video, which includes what she would do when she comes over to Singapore – including visiting the markets and beaches!
BA have this promotional site for those that want a good look at their different classes and comfort (it also includes their 787). But for me the more interesting way is with this very interesting video by British Airways pilot Peter Nye that was done prior to the launch of the first BA A380 flight to Los Angeles:
