Singapore Airlines is offering 5,000 free KrisFlyer Miles to new sign ups from (and here’s the catch) Australia before the 31st March.
There’s an additional 5,000 offered if you make a trip within the first 6 months from Australia too. You could think of some creative ways using friends/family to use the offer, as you can always change your address at a later date. I wouldn’t sign-up if you already have an account. All you need to do is sign up and use the promotional code “KFACQPU”
What can you do with 5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles?
5,000 KrisFlyer Miles isn’t enough for a decent redemption on Singapore Airlines unsurprisingly, but if you are just starting out then it could be a good way to get your balance up and running. In addition to that there are actually a few other options for using the 5,000 Miles.
Pay With KrisFlyer Miles
By far the easiest option is to use the Pay With KrisFlyer Miles option which lets you use your miles to part pay for your next flight ticket. The value works out at exactly 1 cent (SGD) per mile (0.7 USD, 0.9 AUD) – so the 5,000 could be worth $S50. We’ve done the analysis here:
For those based in Singapore (and yes that could be tricky seeing as the sign-up is for Australia!) you also have the option to directly cash out your miles with TapForMore, the newest conversion partner. You’ll get 0.7 cents (SGD) of value for each mile meaning the offer could net you $S35. Check out this post for more information:
For those based in Australia and others with a “Australia” address you also have the option of converting to Virgin Australia Velocity. The conversion would net you 3,704 Velocity Points – Pointhacks has some more details on this here.
Top Up with Credit Card and/or other Partners
Singapore Airlines has a lot of other partners that you could top-up your balance with and generally redemptions in Business and First/Suites class generate good value for your points.
